Mobile Check-In Kiosk
Monscierge's check-in kiosk was developed in partnership with an independent large hotel chain. It was purposely designed to leverage consumer products that could be easily swapped and upgraded as necessary. The primary UI was designed for iPadOS running in single app mode.
Each iPad is running in single app mode to ensure the "check-in" app can't be exited.
The hotel chain needed two pieces of information a confirmation number and last name. This information was shared via email and text message to the guest. Another version was also available to enable access via email or phone number.
Entering information into the iPad UI.
Stay details are presented showing key details including the room type, photo, and room number based on inventory from property management system.
Upgrades form a key upsell opportunity. By enabling at time decisions for a guest to upgrade the hotel could in many cases double their room revenue easily.
In addition to room upgrades, special offers such as early check-in or amenities like bottles of wine or snacks increase revenue. These are fast and easy upgrades.
At the end of the process an overview of the room charges are shown. The attached credit card machine would be used for payment via swiping or chip and pin method.
After payment the key creation starts, this self-service model enabled guests to create as many keys as they wanted and they could be easily self-encoded by the guest. The key card process takes around 5 seconds per key. An automated video animation displayed the basic steps for key creation.
At the conclusion of the key process a closing message would be displayed.
Error and walk-away screens are displayed based on time or lack of input.
Various error screens try to minimize frustration by providing non-judgmental and direct messaging around what happened and the next steps to resolve the issue.
